Can I really work
from home?
I work in digital
advertising, but honestly the work you do is not so important. As long as what you
do does not require constant face-to-face contact with customers / customers or
otherwise requires your physical presence to fulfil your role (you will never
work from home as a waiter, money salesman, construction worker, store manager,
etc.) then the key is finding the right company. There are many
tasks that require you to come to the office and do not have to be done in the
office. In most cases getting into the office is about clock viewing (you need
to be "on duty" from 9AM to 5PM, whether that leads to productive
work hours, or more output) or just having an inactive manager You can feel
comfortable if they don't see you working in real time. Of course, there
are benefits to working in an office, such as easy interaction, collaboration,
getting close to co-workers, etc., but there are also tools that make working
with remote teams work well.
The key things to
look for in a company that you want to work from home are:
• Trusting you meet
the deadlines and do a good job without looking at your shoulder. You are
trusted until you prove that you cannot be, rather than think that you cannot
do your job without someone to take care of you.
• Has the infrastructure
to work effectively as a remote worker. Talking tools like Slack, interactive
screen sharing tools, activity tracking, time tracking (if applicable), daily
stop meetings to find out what's going on and who's doing it, and where it
makes sense to focus your time and attention.
• Trusting you to
set up your schedule and work in a way that prepares your product for your
time, while also allowing you to interact with other team members, attend
conference calls and other customer communications, and meet deadlines. (that
is, you Ado not want a watchman who thinks that if you work from 10PM to 6AM or
from 6AM - 2PM, then take 2PM to 10PM which is not doing your job well)
• You have clear
goals, and sensible managers who communicate those goals effectively and are
available if you have any questions or need help. Obviously as long-distance
employee communication will be very important, you need to know what you should
be working on and you need to be able to reach out to someone who can help you
when you have a question you can't answer or a problem you can't find an answer
on your own. One last tip, get
rid of work on home campaigns ("I've made half a year for most people in
one month I do" X "and I only work two hours a day!"). Whatever
that asks you to pay to get a job or to have a chance to get a job is not a
job, it is a wise way to separate yourself from your money. I think technically
those people who insult you work at home, and if they find people who are
deceptive enough, they can actually make a lot of money doing it. :)
There are many
companies out there that offer the right opportunities to work from home, doing
what is actually a traditional activity from the comfort of your own home. This
is where the real work from home opportunities comes into play. You will also have
more success working for a small business, which requires your expertise, but
instead you should work remotely because they see the benefits, are not afraid
of them, and because it suits their needs (avoid more like relocating, or paying
for office space when not needed). Small businesses are also more likely to see
the benefits of hiring the best employees they can find, even if those people
are not in their local talent, because the contributions of all employees have
a large percentage to contribute to the success of the business as a whole.
Having 5 weak people is less painful in a 500-person organization, while those
5 weak links are disabled in a group of 15 or 20 people.
